Show TranscriptHide TranscriptI'm on the same spot as Army was a few moments ago. I'm about to introduce some idol of mine. Not since the Martians invaded earth in that memorable radio broadcast of 40 years ago have I been as frightened as I am this very minute, and the man who was the cause of it then is the cause of it now. The same legendary name, the same genius of theater and screen. Happily, he's come to praise and not to frighten. To present the award for the favorite motion picture actor, nervous I may be but with a sense of great sense of honor and privilege that I introduce, Mr. Orson Welles right there.
Thank you. Bert tells us that he's afraid, but just in these last very few weeks, we've learned that Bert Parks has no reason to be afraid of anybody. You know, I never liked that famous Academy category of best actor or best performance. That word best not only says too much. It says too little. I think what we have here says it just about right. Your favorite motion picture actor. There can't be any argument about that. Or about the 3 candidates who you've chosen. Alan Alda, Clint Eastwood, and Burt Reynolds.
