Just like the polls we conduct for a nationwide political elections, this poll for the People's Choice Awards is completely impartial. The results are being publicly announced tonight and I'm happy to share the excitement as you learn the people's choice for 1982. Here's how it was done. It's really quite simple. Our Gallup researchers polled thousands and thousands of people by telephone. In fact, about 3 times more than most opinion polls. We polled a nationwide sample representative of the United States population. We just ask them to tell us their favorites in each category. No suggestions were given, no nominations made. They could
